As well as Groove Coverage, DJ Volume and many others also Baracuda roots from the hitfactory Suprime Records based in Ingolstadt, near Munich/Bavaria. Baracudas singer Suny have been working together with the Suprime Music producers Axel Konrad and Ole Wierk since 2003. Their debut-single and first hit was “damn”, a unique dance-cover to the German Schlager “verdammt ich lieb dich” from Matthias Reim.
In Germany “damn” peaked at position 12 in the single-sales charts and sold over 100.000 units, followed by an own composition – “i leave the world today” which again reached top 40 in Germany and became even more famous in other countries such like Japan and Canada. After a longer break and the producers’ decision to start their own label called Suprime Records the next single “ass up” has been released as one of the first singles on the new label. “ass up” is some kind of self-ironic adoption of Mirah’s big hit “gotta go home”.
As the sound changed a bit -compared to the older hits- DJs were reluctant in the beginning but step by step “ass up” broke the ice and topped at 3 in the German Dance Charts. At this time, nobody could predict that “ass up” should become Baracuda’s biggest success so far. The record has been released in numerous countries around the planet, became no. 1 in Poland’s ringtone-charts, reached position 3 in Norway’s official single charts and no. 5 in Finland’s. It was one of the most used songs on Japanese Dance-Compilations. First the original versions and now DJ Ten’s great remixes. Long breaks seem to belong to Baracuda – but now it’s time again to present the next bomb: You’ll hear it soon – and it shall get your attention – promised!
